Taboo
It has been many weeks until i decide to go for another maternity check up. Baby has been very active lately, I could not sleep and as usual, coaxing the other half to accompany me to see the doctor would be? hmmm...men, regardless the nationalities and background, you can smell the anxiety of the father knowing if they need to go to gynae clinic, the reaction can be so many. But i did thank NK for being so brave. Why? I will tell that later.
We went to see this doctor, Dr. Many,an Indian lady doctor, after an attempt to book Dr. Fauziah in Ampang Putri was not successful. Very laku one. Menyesal tak jadi doktor. On going to private hospital for check up, we decided that was the best since both of us are busy people (eheheheh), jimat masa and we feel like this time as biarlah diberi ketenangan menunggu kerna empunya badan dah exhausted bekerja. Never mind, the process was straight forward. Walk in, register and wait. 2 couples ahead before me. One was this Iranian couple and another was chinese family. My other half could just understand some Persian, only after we finished checking, baru bukak citer mengumpat ---> alahai.
As usual, the urine test, the blood pressure, the heartbeat, the breast condition, alhamdulillah, everything is normal. For an obese mum, Dr. gave me an amazed look how normal it seems for people like me.
OK, the highlight of the check up was of course, the scanning time. Dr. Many gave a lot of information, in fact she was so good to show me some view of the baby from the screen. Now we found the baby was so active in the womb coz everytime Dr. zoom the view, we could see little fingers of my baby stretching many times Ahahahhaha. OK, this time, hub without any doubt would also be in the room to listen to all the lecture. Blame on him for feeding me mangoes, the only fruit can telan for the rest of my pregnancy.
I never know that hub never allow his wife to scan unborn babies until he told me after the check up.
In fact, it is a taboo to know what is the gender. Taboo to his culture. Not mine. Living in his country, his wife never been scanned during maternity check up. What the heck? He just nodded to Dr. Many when the Dr. showed him the screen. Just to be polite. I tabik his effort, trying to fit in, perhaps seeing the Iranian couple, before us, he was too find, being supportive is just a way to go.
Never mind about the scanning part, Dr. asked me later to check the gender. OK, that was the hardest part coz someone is hoping for a boy. Ahahahaha.
"its a girl, Jazmin. let me....." and you know the rest of the second, feels like hours in the doctor's room.
Deep in my heart, I know the pressure for NK to receive such news. I mean, he told me that all the aunties and the saudara mara would hope for another boy in the family cos the last baby was a girl, Sobiah Khan. To me, as long as the baby is healthy, that matters the most. Some people try their best to conceive for many years and keep on trying. For us, without any plan, she comes to us, with many surprises. Alhamdulillah.
So it is officially no for Salman, Shah Rukh or Jangir for the name part. I kept telling NK no celebrity names coz later our kid will suffer with a lot of name calling, from the kids in the school, obviously.
And Fatiha to have a sister in the family sooner. All the hand-me-downs kurung and gowns. OKlah, langkah penjimatan. Whatever it is, this baby girl is so lucky when she was in fact traveling almost half of the globe following mum to work, huhu.
No more flying.. Time to stock up necessary things, do some budgeting and plan for some short holiday.
Till then.
