Memos, Minutes & Maggi Mee
Piles of letters, memos on my desk right now. Only one MEMO bugged me from morning to afternoon. It made me undecided on what title I should use to address this SUSK. Memo shall be signed by my Pengarah. The SUSK is having AMN. Earlier, i thought it carries the title Dato'. Fine, I was wrong. Have to type and print back the stuff.
Luckily, our "ustaz" Encik Nashim came to the rescue.
"AMN ni tak bawak gelaran Dato' kan?"
"yer, saya pun dah dapat."
"Oh...."
"Orang keje lama memang boleh dapat. Kalau u perasan, artis kat luar pun ramai dah dapat..."
ehehehhe, then I know he too was being awarded.
"so SUSK ni lagi tinggi la daripada pengarah kita ni?"
"Not really. He can be from M44. Menteri yg akan pilih dari PTD biasa"
"ohhh..." Title of the job and the grade sometimes does not show the person's ranking.
Then he explained further on the differences of SUSK, SUA, SUP. Gosh, one Minister can have so many secretaries. Sometimes it is a bit confusing whose ranking comes first.
One interesting story came out. Nashim even told me there was an officer who perform excellently in our department and being promoted to SUSK by this Menteri. Later on, he was recommended by this Minister to try for SUP (setiausaha parlimen) position which he had to resign first as civil servant and goes for election.
"so macam mana?"
"dia kalah bertanding...tak tau la lepas tu dia buat apa. Menteri tu pun kalah juga."
Duh... that was such a high risky thing to do if u do not have any back-up plan. For the sake of the country la katakan. But there is always one thing - If you really wants to serve people, just be civil servant. To get something for your name, be a politician ( with a lot of back-up plans). Ironically, goverment officers work their butt out for the interest of politicians kan??? End of the day, YB juga dapat nama.
Suhana came later to drop by with her Dunkin Donut and Mamee In the Cup. That was good!
