No Smarty Pants
Call me a cynic, but i could not help myself laughing for the new pricing on our product parts. Obviously it had been determined by people who never to understand what is our clients 's level of product price acceptance/tolerance for these DECISION MAKER never involve in any kind of that knowledge before.
Previously, we did agree that quotation will be based on retail price of each item/part plus the component that makes the thing work. But being a fickle minded supervisor as usual, someone has gone a bit too dependent to our boss's so called business acumen.
Take for example, if your Sony TV is sent to the manufacturer for repair or warranty service, will the manufacturer charge you on itemised component, let say, end of the day they bill you the cost of labour charge, the diode cost, the screw cost, the gas refill cost? Definitely they will not ever make themselves equally to Ah Tong Mechanic Shop. They bundled up cost into a round figure plus the labour charges and profit made. And that is what really happens these day, at my department. We do make ourselves a little bit too far in cost calculation. Obviously someone has to go to Business School to gain that Operation/Financial course/theory again but considering our management is ruled by people who I assume Diploma holders (fake or genuine, who knows) I could not say much. They themselves never ever involved in any manufacturing line.
Another example, you can take Dell for instance. Will you ever see a CPU being sold separately without the processor, the graphic card or the hard drive? And if you want to have all in one, they will charge you for another pricing. That is so confusing, right? Again, will MacDonald charge you differently if you want to have burgers without salad or cheese or sauces? Are we given any choice for that? I bet there will more lines of impatient hungry customers waiting their turn to see the nonsense pricing list. Aahhahahah. So again, in this kind of situation, I jokingly said to my technical people, do bring their calculator or perhaps credit card crank machine along, so our customer at least tolerable to our non-sense pricing later, in the future. If they are being ridiculed by the customers, I wish them luck!
